Baby, it's cold outside. - Winter in Ottawa 2017

By Jennifer Horvath on January 6, 2017

Winter’s in the Capital are cold, but beautiful. Aside from the bone chilling wind, there are places to see in Ottawa that will make you perhaps wish that the season was a bit longer…

Take a walk downtown and see how Parliament glows beneath all the snow.

Stop for hot chocolate or a steaming cup of coffee at one of the many shops in the market and watch the snow fall. We recommend Moulin De Provence,  Cacao 70 or The Tea Party.

In a month, at the beginning of February, other winter activities begin.  The Rideau Canal Skateway will be open, strap your skates on and grab a beavertail!

On February 3, the Winterlude kick-off takes place until the 20th. Enjoy the beauty of winter and check out all the ice sculptures on display in Confederation Park.

Something new to Ottawa’s winter this year will be the Ice Dragon Boat Festival. It is the first time in North America that dragon boats will be racing on the frozen Rideau Canal.
