National Donut Day began in 1938 by the Salvation Army. It takes place on the first Friday of June every year to honour those who served doughnuts to the soldiers during World War I.
Some of the best doughnuts in town are found at Suzie Q in Hintonburg. These doughnuts are made the old Finnish way using the recipe of the “Sugar Munkki”. Some of the amazing flavours they create are Maple Bacon, Dirty Chocolate, Blue Vanilla Fruit Loop, and Raspberry Lemonade to name a few.
Today is the perfect day to celebrate National Doughnut Day and take a bite out of something delicious!
